Membership year
Memberships on a fixed year all end on the same day (set on each membership type, e.g. 31 July). A renewal always covers the whole next year. Someone who joins part-way through pays for the months that are left.
They pay one full year and are covered to the end of the following year.

What members can choose to be emailed about
Every message the club sends belongs to one of these. Members say yes or no to each, except the essential notices, which always go out. Renaming a category keeps everyone's answers; a new one starts as "not asked".
